Female gamers why so few?

Ok I am a long time female gamer, and I want to know why is it that there seem to be so few of us? I am currently in a group of 8 players of which five are female, but go to any Con and people fall all over themselves when they find out we game. LARPing, tabletop you name it we have tried it. We are dedicated gamers, and enjoy it. So why aren’t there more of us out there?
What can the RPG industry do to encourage more female gamers?

As a long time female gamer and game designer, I have always loved the creativity and spontaneity of roleplaying games. Traditional tabletop roleplaying games require quick thinking, imagination, and teamwork to achieve goals. While more women play RPGs now than ever before, there is still this notion that RPGs are a male-only sort of activity, and women often don’t even consider the hobby.
What steps do you think the industry could take to make the hobby more attractive to women?
How long is a ipod mini 4g second generation supposed to last?
I am planning to get the ipod nano 8g and i had the ipod mini 4g before. I had the mini for 2yrs and someone i know thinks that that is a very short time for someone to have an ipod or mp3 player. I think that 2 yrs is pretty long for an ipod. How long is an ipod mini supposed to last when used daily and frequently?
